The VOA's One Day CE Conference was held January 25, 2009, at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville, VA, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

While 4 hours of CE were presented, this program was presented for 3.5 hours of CE credit in accordance with regulations of the Virginia Board of Optometry, noting a nominal amount of information may relate to practice management.

This continuing education opportunity featured a timely presentation by Kelly Kerksick, OD of Columbia, IL, as well as a panel discussion.  Dr. Kerksick has lectured internationally on contact lens care, practice management, ocular surface disease and clinical communication.

The lecture presentation will include how to transition from paper to electronic record keeping, emphasizing EMR as a means to enhance standard of care and patient compliance.  The panel discussion will feature the comparison of four major optometric software programs for electronic record keeping.
